Forest Hill is the heart of historical luxury Toronto. The neighbourhood's Tudor Revival mansions, Georgian Revival estates, and increasingly the contemporary new builds replacing them are the projects we serve most often.

Forest Hill was developed in the 1920s and 1930s as one of Toronto's planned luxury neighbourhoods. The dominant architectural styles are Tudor Revival, Georgian Revival, and Cotswold Cottage Revival, with later additions of Modernist and Contemporary homes interspersed throughout. The neighbourhood retains an exceptional concentration of original-era luxury homes, particularly along the streets between Lonsdale Road and Eglinton Avenue.
For our marble work in Forest Hill, this architectural context shapes specification in three meaningful ways:
Traditional projects in original-era homes usually call for stones and profiles that respect the architectural language of the host structure. Carved profiles (classical ogee, fluted, recessed panel) work better in these settings than contemporary minimalist profiles. Stones with multi-century pedigrees (Carrara White, Calacatta Gold, Statuario) read as architecturally appropriate; trend stones with shorter contemporary stories can read as anachronistic in heritage settings.
Renovation projects in older homes often want to introduce contemporary luxury elements without erasing the original character. This is where some of our most interesting work happens: a Forest Hill Tudor with original wood panelling and leaded windows can take a contemporary Calacatta Viola primary bath specification beautifully if the introduction is handled with restraint. The contemporary stone reads as a deliberate moment of present-tense within a historical envelope.
New construction replacing teardowns represents the third project type. Several Forest Hill blocks have seen the gradual replacement of original-era homes with contemporary luxury new builds over the past fifteen years. These projects are typically more architecturally aggressive than renovations and often specify the contemporary trend stones (Verde Guatemala, Calacatta Viola, Sahara Noir) at scale.
